This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and how you can exercise your rights, in accordance with Law 1581 of 2012, Decree 1377 of 2013 (compiled in Decree 1074 of 2015), and other Colombian regulations on personal data protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Some definitions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Personal information:<\/strong> any information that identifies you or can identify you, such as your name, your email or your WhatsApp number.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sensitive data:<\/strong> that which affects your privacy or whose misuse could generate discrimination, such as health data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Holder:<\/strong> the person to whom the data belongs, that is, you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Treatment:<\/strong> any operation on the data: collecting, storing, using, sharing or deleting it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>In charge:<\/strong> who processes data on behalf of MIEO, for example an email or web hosting provider.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Authorization:<\/strong> your prior, express and informed consent for MIEO to process your data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. What data do we collect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on how you interact with MIEO, we can collect:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Identification and contact:<\/strong> name, email address, WhatsApp number, country and nationality and, when required for travel, document number.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Your stay in Medell\u00edn:<\/strong> Home university, university or company in Medell\u00edn, type of stay (exchange, internship or other), arrival and departure dates, if you are looking for accommodation, how you heard about us and who recommended you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purchases and membership:<\/strong> Purchased products (tickets, trips, MIEO Pass), amounts, dates, membership status, and billing information. Your card details are processed directly by the payment gateway: MIEO does not know or store them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stake:<\/strong> Tickets with QR code, event registration, travel and activity assistance, and the names of your companions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Emergency contact:<\/strong> Name and phone number of a person to call during a trip. If you give us another person&#039;s information, you declare that they authorized you to do so.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sensitive data (optional):<\/strong> dietary restrictions or health conditions that you would like to inform us about for a trip or activity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Images:<\/strong> Photos and videos taken at our events and trips.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Account and navigation:<\/strong> If you log in with Google or Facebook, your name, email and profile picture; in addition, technical data such as IP address, browser, language and pages visited, obtained through cookies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. What we use your data for<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Invite you to the MIEO community and its WhatsApp groups and manage them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organizing and conducting events, trips and activities: reservations, tickets, access control, logistics, insurance and emergency assistance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manage your MIEO Pass membership and its benefits and discounts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Process payments, returns, billing, and accounting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To send you information and offers from MIEO and its partners about events, travel, accommodation, benefits and activities, by email, WhatsApp, social media or other means.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To offer you accommodation options in Medell\u00edn, directly or through partners.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manage the ambassador and referral program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct surveys, gather statistics, and perform analyses to improve what we offer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publish photos and videos of events and trips on our website and social media to showcase our activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Protect site security and prevent fraud and spam.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To comply with legal, accounting and tax obligations and to respond to requests from authorities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you do not want to receive promotional messages, or prefer that we not publish a photo or video in which you appear, please write to us at <a href=\"mailto:info@mieocolombia.com\">info@mieocolombia.com<\/a> and we take care of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Sensitive data and minors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Providing us with sensitive information is always optional, and no service depends on you doing so. If you inform us of a dietary restriction or health condition, we use it only for your safety and for the logistics of the activity, and we only share it with those who need to know for that purpose (for example, the tour operator).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our services are intended for people over 18 years of age. If a minor participates, their data is processed with the authorization of their legal representative and respecting their best interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Who we share your data with<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We may share your data with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Technology providers that provide us with services:<\/strong> web hosting (Hostinger), email (Brevo), spreadsheets and storage (Google), messaging and social media (WhatsApp and Instagram, from Meta), security (Cloudflare), site statistics (WordPress.com \/ Jetpack) and machine translation (Google).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The payment gateway<\/strong> (Bold), to process your purchases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Travel and event providers:<\/strong> transporters, hotels and accommodations, tour operators, insurers and establishments, to the extent necessary to provide the service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>MIEO Allies,<\/strong> as accommodation partners and sponsoring brands, for the purposes of this policy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Authorities<\/strong> that they request it in the exercise of their functions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of these providers store information on servers outside of Colombia, for example, in the United States or the European Union. By authorizing the processing of your data, you agree to this international transfer or transmission. MIEO strives to work with providers that offer adequate levels of protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note that when you join a WhatsApp group or community, your name and number become visible to other members. WhatsApp usage is also subject to Meta&#039;s terms and conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Your rights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the owner, you can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Know, update and correct your data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request proof of the authorization you gave us.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To know, if you request it, what use we have made of your data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revoke authorization or request that we delete your data, except when there is a legal or contractual obligation to retain it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access your data for free.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>File complaints with the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC), after having exhausted the consultation or claim process before MIEO.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. How do you give us your authorization?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We request your authorization when collecting your data: through a checkbox on our forms, when making a purchase on the site, in writing, via WhatsApp, or by any other means that allows us to retain proof. We also consider authorization granted through unambiguous actions, such as voluntarily providing your data to join the community or register for an activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. How to exercise your rights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MIEO team handles inquiries and complaints regarding personal data. Write to us at <a href=\"mailto:info@mieocolombia.com\">info@mieocolombia.com<\/a> (or send your request to the address in section 1) indicating your name, your request, the address or email where you want to receive the response and, if it is a claim, the facts and supporting documents. You, your successors or your representative can do this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Consultations<\/strong> (to know what data we have and how we use it): We respond within a maximum of ten (10) business days. If this is not possible, we will notify you before the deadline and respond within a maximum of five (5) additional business days.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Complaints<\/strong> (to correct, update, or delete data, revoke authorization, or report a breach): We will respond within a maximum of fifteen (15) business days, which may be extended up to eight (8) additional business days, after notifying you. If the claim is incomplete, we will request the missing information within the next five (5) business days; if two (2) months pass without you completing it, we will assume that you have withdrawn your claim.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. Security<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We apply reasonable technical, human, and administrative measures to protect your data against loss, unauthorized access, or use, such as restricted access to our tools, encrypted connections, and the use of recognized providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11. How long do we keep your data?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We retain your data for as long as necessary for the purposes of this policy, while you have a relationship with MIEO, and for as long as required by accounting, tax, or commercial regulations. Our databases will remain in effect as long as MIEO carries out its activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12. Cookies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our site uses its own and third-party cookies to function (for example, the shopping cart, language settings, and login), for your security, and to obtain usage statistics. You can block or delete them through your browser settings, although some site features may then stop working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">13. Changes to this policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We may update this policy. We will post each version on this page with its date. If a change substantially affects the identification of the data controller or the purposes of the processing, we will inform you through this website or by email before implementing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">14.
